About the Role
They are currently seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join their team in Parramatta or Centennial Park with the flexibility to work remotely from home. This is an estimated 8-month temporary assignment, with a potential to extend.
Working within the Place, Design and Public Spaces Business Unit, you will be required provide financial accounting services and advice to the organisation including delivery of accurate and timely monthly and annual statutory financial information, preparation and review of monthly general ledger reconciliations and Treasury reporting and returns
In this role, you will be responsible for, however not limited to the following –
- Complete general ledger and journal preparation
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, periodic and annual financial accounts and statements
- Ensure that the financial accounting transactions processed are fully compliant with both internal and external audit requirements
- Oversee maintenance and reconciliation of the General Ledger to Subsidiary Ledgers and monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Implement processes to ensure results accurately reflect underlying business performance
- Investigate and drive clearance of aged bank reconciliation items
- Track, monitor and reports on trends and issues, implement continuous improvement strategies, mitigating risks
- Manage and review Capital Work in Progress ledger balance monthly ensuring items are capitalised and depreciated in a timely manner
- Generate the Monthly Trust Financial Scorecard for Board reporting, drafting commentary
- Coordinate the annual statutory financial statement preparation process, acting at the primary audit contact for the NSW Audit Office
- Prepare relevant taxation information including GST, FBT, Payroll Tax for Treasury
- Establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships facilitating collaboration and business partnerships
About You
To be successful in securing this rewarding opportunity you will have the following –
- Demonstrated Financial Accounting experience
- CA/CPA qualified, preferred not essential
- Tax knowledge is highly desirable
- Public Sector experience desirable
- Impeccable communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Solid analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Strong computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office suite and SAP
- Superior organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise conflicting deadlines
- High attention to detail
- Willingness to undergo a National Police Check
- Reliable remote internet access to work remotely from home
- Fully COVID vaccinated or medically exempt
- Ability to commence and commit to the duration of the assignment
