AddressThe Financial Controller will play a critical role in overseeing the financial operations of our distillery, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all financial activities. The role requires a strategic thinker with robust experience in financial management, particularly within the manufacturing or FMCG sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing our accounting systems, leading financial reporting, and providing financial insights that will drive our business decisions.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the financial operations of the company, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting and control systems in place.
- Manage and optimize our use of the Wiise accounting system to ensure efficiency and compliance.
- Supervise and mentor the Accounts Assistant, ensuring the smooth operation of day-to-day financial transactions and month-end processing.
- Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.
- Prepare for and coordinate the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors as necessary.
- Monitor and manage all aspects of cash flow; forecast monthly, quarterly, and annual cash requirements and execute financing decisions.
- Maintain asset registers and depreciation schedules
- Monthly stock on hand reconciliation
- Ensure that all statutory requirements of the organisation are met including Withholding Payments (PAYG), Goods and Services Tax (GST), Payroll Tax, Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), Excise, and Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) compliance.
- Oversee the acquisition and maintenance of insurance coverage, to ensure the protection of company assets and advise on and lead any necessary risk management.
- Manage shareholder accounting, including the maintenance of shareholder registers, processing dividend payments, and preparing reports for shareholder communications.
- Prepare and present financial information and insights at board meetings and offer actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CA accreditation preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial leadership role, preferably in the manufacturing or beverage industry
