Job description

Eco Abrolhos Cruises operates at the Abrolhos Islands and the remote Kimberley region. The vessel will be located at the Abrolhos Islands between Feb - April providing 5 day liveabord nature based experiences including fishing and snorkeling. During May - September the vessel will relocate to the Kimberley providing 14 day cruises to some of Australia's best remote nature experiences. The vessel relocates back south to the Abrolhos Islands to work from Sept - Nov. We pride ourselves as having an extended tourist season between two destinations in comparison to other small Kimberley boats.
The First Mate role will be responsible for but not limited to:
  1. Manifest control
  2. Running emergency preparedness exercise's (drills)
  3. Following the vessel SMS and company policies
  4. AMSA compliance 
  5. Being the first point of contact for medical or general issues that passengers may have
  6. Following the vessel PMS (preventative maintenance schedule)
  7. Assisting the engineer with tasks and upkeep
  8. Assisting the Master in day to day tasks
  9. Watchkeeping duties, weighing and dropping anchor, vessel manourvering 
  10. Assistance in hospitality when and where required
  11. Processing seafood, ie. filleting fish, tailing crayfish and preparing mudcrabs
  12. Driving the tenders when and where required
  13. Ensuring all survey and certificates up to date and in good order
The First Mate must possess:
  1. Master 24m with First Mate experience or crew management experience
  2. Master 45m is preferred and may open up opportunities to relief skipper long term 
  3. MED 2
  4. ESS (element shipboard safety)
  5. Advanced First Aid, CPR and O2
  6. Police Clearance
  7. RSA (preferred) 
  8. Car license
