In the role of Mechanical Fitter you will undertake mechanical maintenance activities in both a workshop and field environment ensuring equipment is kept in a safe and reliable condition. The mechanical fitter position plays a multifaceted and critical role in identifying, diagnosing, repairing and reporting on faults and condition of a modern fleet of trucks, trailers, earthmoving and auxiliary equipment. The Cairns Workshop services a large geographical area with the work that requires travel to both Coastal and Regional/Remote locations on the Cape.
To be a Mechanical Fitter, you should have completed an apprenticeship in a trade such as a Certificate III in Engineering- Mechanical Trade or equivalent.
- Previous experience mechanical fitting and engineering.
- Ability to undertake repairs, servicing and preventative maintenance of a modern fleet of trucks, trailers, earthmoving and auxiliary equipment.
- Attend to breakdowns, diagnose faults and complete repairs of equipment.
- Perform non-structural fabrication and welding activities.
- Effectively and clearly communicates and contributes towards a positive team environment.
- Ability to multi-task, self-manage and work autonomously on projects and reporting requirements to meet deadlines.
- Ability to acquire rapid knowledge to perform several duties as directed by the Workshop Service Coordinator.
- Flexible and able to periodically work weekend roster or another roster to undertake workshop or field service activities.
- Current Queensland ‘HR' Class drivers licence or equivalent, or the ability to obtain within first 3 months.
