AddressThis government department providing critical services across Queensland has an opportunity for a Fixed Asset Accountant to support their larger finance function on a contract basis for around 5- 6 months. The Position:
Reporting to an experienced and high-performing manager, this role will allow you to take ownership of Fixed Asset accounting tasks. This includes:
- Maintain and update the Fixed Asset register, including additions, disposals, and depreciation calculations.
- Conduct regular reconciliations between the Fixed Asset register and general ledger accounts.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports related to Fixed Assets.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate recording and tracking of Fixed Assets across departments.
- Provide support during audits, including gathering documentation and addressing auditor inquiries related to Fixed Assets.
- Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing best practices in Fixed Asset accounting
- Prepare the capital expenditure budgets and cashflow forecasts
To be considered for this role, it will be hugely advantageous if you have worked as a Fixed Asset Accountant for an organisation with a large and complex assets register. You should have experience across Fixed Assets. As this is a temporary role, you will need to take ownership of the position very quickly. As you will be liaising with both financial and non-financial stakeholders, your well-developed communication skills will be critical. You should be proactive and take initiative in your work. Ideally, you will be CPA/CA or part-qualified.
