Lead Australia’s most luxurious and multifaceted experiential retail location and create moments that deliver on David Jones’ purpose to inspire like no other.

The role

In its 185th year, David Jones is in the midst of a dynamic organisational wide transformation as it transitions back into Australian ownership. With a focus on delivering our Vision2025+ strategy, the Store Manager for our Flagship location at Elizabeth Street in Sydney will be at the epicentre of creating luxurious experiential retail experiences for a global audience.

Leading a large and multifaceted team of sales, operations and experiential retail teams, you will be the quintessential brand ambassador for our brand partners, external suppliers and of course our global customer base.  As the destination that inspires with experiences and services like no other you will be responsible for delivering on this purpose while ensuring all commercial, team and operational objectives are delivered.

This is without doubt one of the most high-profile retail leadership roles in Australia and will provide an experienced executive retail store leader the opportunity to make meaningful impact across an iconic Australian brand.

***Please note that this is initially a 12-month limited tenure maternity cover contract***

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Lead, inspire and coach a diverse team of passionate retail professionals to create experiences that inspire like no other
  • Ensure all commercial objectives linked to sales, profit and NPS are overachieved
  • Create meaningful and collaborative partnerships with all brand & concession partners
  • Ensure our Vision & Purpose are translated in store and throughout each department from events, activations and refurbishment projects
  • Play a key role in ensuring workforce planning principles are evolved continuously to meet service philosophy standards
  • Represent David Jones positively out in market as the custodian of this iconic location

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Has global department store experience or worked in a senior leadership role for market leading retail brands
  • Proven ability to coach, inspire and develop capability of people/teams in their responsibility
  • Has a relentless commitment to delivering inspiring customer experience moments
  • Ability to collaborate/influence diverse stakeholder groups, brand partners and suppliers
  • A consistent track record of overachievement against commercial objectives including NPS
  • Ability to adapt at pace to the changing strategic needs of customers, the business or market
  • High commercial acumen with a growth mindset to facilitate growth across the organisiation
