Cartage Australia is the largest independent raw materials transport company in Victoria. Cartage Australia supply 40% of all Melbourne's concrete raw materials, we service various concrete plants, garden supplies and major projects all across Victoria

Cartage Australia is in an upward growth trajectory and the business has opened up an opportunity for a new role in operations & logistics allocations.

What does the job look like?

As a Fleet Allocator at Cartage Australia, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless coordination of our transportation operations, contributing to our continued success and reputation as an industry leader.

This role is a key support to our Allocations Manager, offering support and contributing to day-to-day operational efficiency, safety and customer service levels. This role is heavily involved in fleet allocations, including administrative duties and dealing with and assigning tasks to operational staff such as drivers. The position requires exceptional communication and problem solving skills that build relationships, teamwork and a commitment to achieving success through our operational KPI’s. Furthermore, you will be able to demonstrate the following skills:

  • Ensure efficient and effective daily allocations and oversee the dispatching of deliveries to meet customer requirements and demands;
  • Ability to prioritise workload whilst being in constant communication with other allocators, external customers, concrete plant staff, admin team and drivers to ensure each and every load is delivered to the correct place on time;
  • Ensure truck utilisation is maximised to increase profitability;
  • Ensure all docket enquiries are completed in a timely manner;
  • Ensure all Incidents, Hazards and safety issues are reported and corrective actions are implemented;
  • Support the Allocations Manager and Area Manager where necessary

About you:

The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, ideally from a recognized transport company. The successful candidate must have excellent leadership skills with good organization skills and the ability to work as a part of the team to achieve business objectives. Additionally, working knowledge or understanding of fatigue management and other relevant OHS legislation would be useful. Well-developed and confident computer skills, including MS Office will also set you apart.

You will be required to meet Cartage Australia’s employment criteria which will include but not be limited to a criminal history check and full medical with a drug and alcohol test.

Hours and Remuneration:

Monday - Friday + 2 Saturdays per month 

4:00am - 6:00am start (approx. 10-11 hours per day)

Estimated Gross Yearly Wage$100,000 - $120,000 + Super
