The FOH and Functions Manager is responsible for overseeing the team management, operations and activities that directly impact customers’ experiences in hospitality and service–based establishments such as bars, function room, indoor and outdoor dining areas. This role involves strong communication, organisational skills, and the ability to work under pressure while ensuring a positive experience for customers. This role focuses on daily operations and customer service within the establishments, specialised in running, coordinating and executing specific events or functions.

ABOUT US

Maylands Golf Course is a public golf facility, set alongside the Swan River with vast views of the city skyline and Optus Stadium. The 18-hole, par 71 golf course is one of the most picturesque in WA. A $4 million redevelopment project was completed in September 2023. This includes plans to boost hospitality at the venue by completely refurbishing the site with a refit of the pro shop, training room, function room, bathrooms, change facilities, and the revamped restaurant "The Hangar"

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Staff Management:
    - Train and supervise FOH staff (bar staff, waiters etc)
    - Schedule shifts, and conduct staff one on one’s / evaluations.
  2. Customer Service:
    - Ensure excellent customer service standards are maintained at all times.
    - Handle customer enquiries, complaints, and feedback effectively and professionally.
  3. Operations:
    - Manage day-to-day operations, including opening/closing procedures, inventory management, and cash handling.
    - Monitor and enforce compliance with health and safety regulations and RGL regulations.
  4. Collaboration:
    - Liaise with kitchen staff and management to ensure seamless coordination between FOH and BOH (Back of House).
    - Collaborate with marketing teams for promotions, events, and social media engagement.
  5. Quality Control:
    - Maintain the quality of food, beverages, and overall ambience.
    - Uphold cleanliness standards and oversee restaurant setup.
  6. Training and Development:
    - Conduct ongoing training programs to enhance staff skills and knowledge.
    - Implement and reinforce company policies and procedures.
  7. Event Planning:
    - Coordinate and plan various events (private parties, corporate functions, special occasions).
    - Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and preferences.
  8. Execution:
    - Ensure all aspects of events are well-organized, from staffing to catering to setup.
    - Oversee the smooth running of events, addressing any issues that arise.
  9. Sales and Marketing:
    - Promote event spaces and services to attract bookings.
    - Work with the marketing team to develop strategies for event promotion.
  10. Budget Management:
    - Develop and manage budgets for events, ensuring profitability.
    - Negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers.
  11. Customer Relations:
    - Build and maintain relationships with clients and ensure their satisfaction.
    - Gather feedback to improve future events and services.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience in event management, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Strong leadership skills to lead and inspire a passionate team. 
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory/management role in the hospitality industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of restaurant operations and customer service principles.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and resolve conflicts efficiently.
