The Role
This is a senior position, involving an unusual degree of autonomy in terms of technology choices, software development processes and time management. The team will be relying upon you to make decisions wisely in order to support the varied responsibilities, projects and tasks you'll have on your plate.
- Develop and upkeep of a range of public-facing web properties, ranging from the promotional websites, to interactive calculators to financial visualisations.
- Build and manage business-oriented web properties for brokers, suppliers and joint ventures.
- Maintain, customise and troubleshoot staff-facing software like CRMs, knowledge bases and SaaS products. If it involves code, it'll be in your wheelhouse.
- Introduce and maintain deployment, source control, testing tools and other peripheral processes to ensure your time is used productively.
- Identify issues, potential solutions and new opportunities for software tools within the business.
- Choose and use the right tools for the job. We're open to framework use, but we are expecting a high level of comfort and expertise with the evergreen web technologies: html, javascript and css.
What we're looking for
We are a close knit team, involving different roles working closely together. We're looking for a self-motivated individual who's interested in putting software development skills to use in novel ways.
- Broad experience in software development with a recent focus on web technologies.
- Familiarity with common and emerging technologies which accelerate web development, such as CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, integrations and automated testing.
- Working with compliance teams to ensure web development extends beyond just code (e.g. GPDR), security, localisation, accessibility and workflows.
- The ability to balance short term requirements, like urgent regulatory compliance changes to a website, against long-term initiatives like gradual improvements to processes and workflows.
- A communication style which allows productive collaboration between different technical specialities. Understanding financial concepts and explaining software development considerations to non-developers is a big part of the job.
- An attitude that acknowledges that you are an important part of a team of equally important people applying diverse skillsets that each contribute to a successful outcome.
- Knowledge of financial concepts and experience translating Excel formulas to other software paradigms would be a plus!
