We are offering you an exciting opportunity to join the Parts Forecasting & Materials Management Team within Services Parts Operations organization which lies at the heart of revenue generation for GE Gas Power by delivering to quality parts on-time to customers.

Respecting the four pillars of Safety, Delivery, Quality and Cost you can make your contribution to the optimization of Parts Inventory supporting the global installed base of combined cycle gas-fired power plants.

A successful intern will gain deep experience in a large corporate materials management environment, learn a valuable and diverse set of skills, and depart with useful experience to further their career and development as a materials management professional.

You will:

  • Standardize and document processes, create training plans.
  • Run and monitor existing reports, participate in creating new ones.
  • Receive training, mentoring, and coaching from the Materials Management COE Leader.

Job Description

Materials Management interns will gain experience in inventory management and material planning of gas turbine components.

You will have the opportunity to interact with Material Planners, Buyers, Engineers and Project Managers to grow your knowledge of the gas turbine service business and supply chain operations.

Specific tasks will include validating opportunities for inventory reduction by developing and maintaining alternate part number records for gas turbine parts (turbine, combustor, and compressor) as well as contributing to the acceleration of excess inventory consumption across Services and Supply Chain teams by coordinating the review of opportunities by Engineers, Material Planners and Factory Buyers.

You will receive on-the-job training and coaching from senior supply chain professionals and engineers. Potential Locations Include:

  • Atlanta, Georgia; Remote is acceptable, open to other gas power locations

Relocation Assistance:

Interns will be reimbursed for reasonable, proper, and documented expenditures incurred while initially reporting to work and returning to school/home upon completion of the assignment. Employees with a permanent address greater than 50 miles away from the work location are eligible.

Housing Allowance:

Co-op/Intern employees receive a weekly housing allowance to help off-set living expenses when the Co-op's/Intern’s permanent residence is at least 50 miles away from the work location.

Employment Dates: 

  • January 2023 to April/May 2023

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Must have one to two semesters left prior to graduation and be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program in majors Economics, Supply Chain Management or comparable.
  • Must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (without rounding).  
  • Must submit your application for employment through: https://www.ge.com/university.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test as part of the selection process.
  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to develop and maintain good customer relationships.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
  • Must be willing to work in geographical area specified by the business.
  • Must have the ability to work in the US for an unlimited amount of time without sponsorship.

  • Competent with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to work independently and balance multiple tasks.
  • Prior internship experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of Lean, Standard Work, Daily Management is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Excel Power Query - Get and Transform is a plus.
