A role with purpose
As General Manager, you will be accountable for Mater Health’s acute care services across the Mater Private Hospital – Townsville, ensuring Mater Health facilities and services are delivering optimal patient outcomes, creating safe, high quality patient experiences, and meeting all performance indicators.
What you’ll be doing
You will be accountable for driving operational and financial performance whilst working to continually improve services, ensuring they are patient and outcomes focused, financially sustainable and operating with the highest safety and quality standards.
Leading and elevating teams whilst monitoring and managing patient activity in line with Mater Health service strategies and service agreements will be key responsibilities.
In addition, you will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer Mater Hospitals and Executive Director Health Integration and Community Care to ensure the right care is provided in the right place, at the right time - every time.

About you
As a results focused, seasoned health care leader you will have extensive experience in leading a large integrated, multidisciplinary workforce comprising of both clinical and non-clinical team members including multiple acute care facilities and/or a state-wide hospital network. You will also have significant experience in leading both private and public acute services.
You will have an effective understanding of Australia’s public and private health system, and the opportunities and challenges facing it - domestically and globally.
You will need to be a team player, drawing on your leadership experience in driving strategic change and operational improvement to mentor and support your team in operating at top of scope.
Other specific characteristics
Tertiary qualifications (or equivalent) in business, finance, healthcare management or human behaviour discipline
Clinical qualifications and experience leading in a clinical context is highly desirable
