Description:
The Uniting Church in Australia (UCA) was formed on 22nd June, 1977, when the Congregational Union in Australia, the Methodist Church of Australasia, and the Presbyterian Church of Australia joined together. The Synod of South Australia is the legal and administrative body of the Uniting Church in South Australia.
The Synod of South Australia seeks to appoint a General Secretary who will be accountable to the Church in South Australia through its Synod Standing Committee. This position is the Secretary of the Synod and the Senior Executive Officer of the Uniting Church SA.
The General Secretary has responsibility for leading both the Synod Office and the Uniting College for Leadership and Theology and this includes management of the Church’s financial operations, property resources, risk and insurance; its marketing and communications; and being pivotal in establishing and maintaining a positive and supportive organisational culture.
This role will encompass broad stakeholder engagement and will require the capacity to lead through times of change with a strong pastoral approach whilst ensuring managerial and governance responsibilities of the Synod are met.
In addition, the General Secretary will:
Be a visible leader and presence to Uniting Church congregations state-wide
Be continually focused on building and maintaining relationships with Uniting Church associated organsiations, hospital and schools
Represent Uniting Church SA across the community and externally including business, government, the general public and the media.
To be considered for this position you must be a committed member of the Uniting Church in Australia.
It is expected that the successful applicant will have a passion for the Gospel and gifts in visionary, prayerful and empowering leadership.
