About the role: We are seeking a high achiever to Lead and manage a Geographical Information System (GIS) team to deliver safe, cost effective, high quality and timely GIS projects and manage the Aurizon Webmap.

Provide customer focussed geospatial services to Aurizon and key supply chain partners
Continuously improve the web mapping platform to heighten customer experience and implement solutions to improve workforce productivity.
Manage the GIS Team to provide the technical aspects of highly complex geospatial systems including the design and preparation of user requirement specifications and system architecture, ensuring support, delivery and GIS strategy implementation.
Develop and coordinate technical aspects and strategies for new technology and techniques applicable to geospatial systems including the development of the GIS strategy roadmap.
Plan, schedule and manage the execution of GIS program of work on specific projects.
Production and review GIS consultancy briefs, requirements, technical specifications and coordinate and review GIS estimates.
Oversee the checking and verification of GIS projects to ensure quality and consistency.
Review and implement GIS processes to current industry standards and maintain awareness of industry developments and best practice.

Technical capabilities/qualifications (mandatory & preferred):

Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Survey or similar discipline (mandatory)
10+ years' experience in business systems, technology and geospatial
Proven experience in programming and management of geospatial data through tools such as Python and SQL server in an enterprise environment
Extensive experience with ArcGIS pro, portal and server
High level of skill in managing a team to achieve project deliverables
Demonstrated ability to problem solve and methodically work through complex solutions
Highly adaptive and responsive to a fast paced environment with the ability to comprehend new skills and technology as required
Strong written & verbal communication skills to effectively liaise with stakeholders
High level of negotiation, coordination, interpersonal and communication skills.
Knowledge of Railway Infrastructure design and construction highly desirable
Ability to travel across the Aurizon business, in particular the Central Queensland Coal Network, as required
