The Governance Officer reports to the Director of Corporate Services and works with the Governance team to achieve and maintain a high standard of Governance Frameworks and legislative compliance through the effective support of administrative and statutory processes ensuring excellence in Governance across all of Council’s operations and functions.
Key accountabilities of the role include:
- Oversight of the various governance systems to ensure compliance with the Local Government Act and regulations and all other relevant legislation;
- Monitoring and oversight of Council’s policy and procedures;
- Maintenance of all relevant registers and similar documents relating to Council’s Elected Members and employees;
- Oversight of the operation of Council’s complaint management system including compliance with Freedom of Information Act; and
- The provision of advice on policy and governance matters to management.
To be successful in this position you will require:
- Relevant experience in a similar role
- Experience in the development and review in policies, systems, procedures, guidelines and codes
- Ability to conduct research, analyse information, evaluate results and prepare reports
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral with the ability to communicate with people at all levels through a range of mediums
- Customer service and administrative support experience in a highly legislated service delivery organisation
- Strong computer skills plus the ability to familiarise quickly to new systems/programs
An attractive remuneration package in the range of Level 5 $82,756 - $86,109 is on offer based on experience, plus 10.5% superannuation. This position is full time and entitled to a rostered day off every 4 weeks. The position is located in Millicent, South Australia.
