About the opportunity

We offer our postgraduate midwifery students a unique experience working in a paid employment model (minimum of three days per week) including 2 days on our Antenatal / Postnatal wards and one other supernumerary clinical day in Birthing services, Antenatal clinic, Fetal Monitoring, and Special Care Nursery. As a valued member of our midwifery team, you will be supported in your learning journey by our exceptional midwives, Clinical Support Midwives (CSM's) and your Clinical Placement Coordinator. We will provide you with ongoing mentoring, clinical education, and reflection to enhance your learning experience. Ensuring you complete your diploma with exposure to a variety of clinical midwifery practices.

  • Fixed Term Part-time, commencing February 2025, 0.6 EFT (24 hrs per week) rostered across all shifts, 7 days a week.
  • Provides pre-requisite clinical experience for the Graduate Diploma of Midwifery.

To thrive in this role, you will:

  • Meet the academic entry requirements of minimum Twelve (12) months of recent acute clinical nursing experience.
  • Have applied for enrolment in the Graduate Diploma of Midwifery at La Trobe University
  • Have excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve.


You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

  • Registration as a Nurse with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
  • Current COVID-19 certificate, proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
