About the role:
The Graduate Engineer will support the engineering requirements of specific major projects and Progress Rail's operations to deliver our goods and services. As part of a broader national engineering team you will gain experience in the development of engineering documentation, design and technical support for rollingstock and components.
This includes:
- Assisting with the compliance engineering aspect of our rail industry standards to ensure compliancy, whilst interacting with all relevant stakeholders to provide solutions.
- Coordinating with the internal engineering team to meet internal and external requirements.
- Undertake and support commissioning activities on our rail assets.
- Analyzing results, you will deliver engineering calculations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support project team and/or operations with development of engineering specific documentation - Scopes, Bills of materials, Work Instructions, Management Plans etc.
- Support engineering team with development of designs, Service Releases, Modernization Recommendations, Hazard Logs, Design Decision Register etc.
- Support the resolution of engineering issues and non-conformances through root cause analysis techniques and detailed engineering reports
- Support engineering team by attending design reviews
- Support quality assurance team - auditing document revisions, part numbers in use, PPAP etc.
- Support project team with procurement - identify correct parts, advise procurement team of required quantities etc.
- Attend remote sites as required.
About you:
- Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (or soon graduating).
Capacity to develop in these areas:
- Develop the engineering requirements through evaluation of compliance
- Develop scopes of works and bills of materials based on specifications
- Able to complete Engineering calculations
- Review/draft of engineering documents or plans and ability to provide comments
- Understanding of engineering technical data
- Excellent communication and written skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point and Microsoft Project (preferred).
