ABOUT US
Swinney is a family-owned integrated wine business consisting of vineyards, vineyard management services and winemaking located in the Frankland River, Margaret River and Gingin regions of Western Australia.
The Swinney vineyards consist of approximately 265 hectares of vines across both regions and have developed an outstanding reputation as a long-term supplier of high-quality wine grapes to many of Western Australia’s premium wine producers. The business has leveraged its bespoke grape growing credentials through the provision of vineyard management services to external customers and well as producing wine under the family’s own Swinney label, which includes the highly regarded Farvie wines.
As the recipient of the inaugural ‘Australian Vineyard of the Year’ award in 2020, the Swinney viticultural approach combines both modern and Old-World practices. These are executed with precision through a combination of detailed manual work and state-of-the-art technology, all underpinned with an environmental focus and with the aim of creating world class vineyard sites.
ABOUT THE POSITION
As a Grape grower you are helping us grow the grapes that produce premium quality wine for our wine producer customers and our own wines. Reporting to the Vineyard Manager you will be responsible for performing a wide range of tasks, including:
• Leading and overseeing management of our vineyards.
• Working collaboratively with the vineyard manager to produce high quality fruits.
• Pest and disease management
• Yield estimates
• Nursery management
• Vine management programs
ABOUT YOU
Successful applicant to hold a bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in agronomy, agriculture or viticulture.
Experiences in similar industries will be highly regarded but not essential.
You will be enthusiastic and hardworking with a genuine interest in viticulture and wine grape growing operations.
A heavy vehicle license and forklift ticket will also be highly regarded.
Strong ability to work well in a team and be respectful of people, land and equipment is critical to us.
Physically fit and healthy and enjoy contributing to a tidy and safe environment.
Strong communication and leadership skills
Able to start work immediately.
Applicants must have eligibility to work in Australia – you must be a citizen, permanent resident or have a valid work permit.
REMUNERATION $70,000 a year or depending on experiences.
