Job Description:
The Grounds Trainee contributes to the effective and efficient maintenance and improvement of school grounds maintenance and facilities as directed.
The Trainee will be supported in order to develop skills in the following areas:
Contribute to the effective and efficient maintenance and improvement of school grounds maintenance and facilities as directed.
Maintaining grounds, gardens, sports fields and facilities by undertaking such tasks as mowing, weeding, edging, pruning, planting, fertilising, watering, rubbish collection and cleaning using appropriate equipment
Maintaining tools and equipment for efficient use including appropriate storage in accordance with WHS regulations
Assisting in the installation and maintenance of watering systems including automatic systems
Assisting trade gardeners
Applying pesticides, herbicides and fertilisers under direction using manual techniques i.e. hand pumps and back pack
Keeping hard surfaces clear of rubbish, leaf litter and debris
Assisting with minor construction work under direction such as fences, and assist with higher level work
Ensuring the safety and hygiene of the school by removing all rubbish and cleaning of outdoor bins on a daily basis
Assisting in providing reports using Microsoft Office packages operating general office machinery and equipment
Special Conditions:
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration:
$14,189 - $37,725 per annum
Note: The salary level will be dependent on the year of schooling completed as well as number of years out of school.

Additional Note:
This is a 36-month full-time traineeship and the trainee will undertake a Certificate III in Horticulture.
