Role
The Group Assistant Controller will support the global finance team by assisting with the preparation of financial data to meet the internal and external reporting requirements of the Palladium Group. This position will also provide assistance with tax compliance matters both in Australia and internationally.
The Group Assistant Controller reports directly to the Group Finance and Tax Director.
Location
The role is based in Brisbane on a full-time, 12-month contract (maternity cover).
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Month end consolidations and reconciliations
- Assist with ensuring the integrity of the financial data processed in and out of the accounting systems
- Processing journal entries
- Intercompany reconciliation and interest calculation
- Lease accounting
- Monthly variance analysis
- Intangible asset management including amortisation, impairment monitoring and valuations
- Tracking and reporting of minority interests.
- Reconcile royalty and intellectual property charges
- Preparation of monthly management reports
- Interface with external auditors
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or relevant field
- Chartered Accountant, Certified Public Accountant or working towards either is required
- Experience working in public practice is preferred
- Experience is required in IFRS, while US GAAP experience would be a bonus
- Prior experience includes demonstratable success in the following: tax and other compliance, International and Intercompany accounting, and other statutory financial filings
- Ability to liaise closely with corporate and regional leadership, senior managers, project teams, other employees and external service providers
- Strong numerical proficiency, first class problem-solving skills and excellent use of logic
- Ability to resolve complex issues, build solid relationships and deliver outcomes
- Strong analytical, planning and financial management skills coupled with the ability to thrive under pressure and balance several competing projects at once
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced excel skills
