The Opportunity:
Are you passionate and experienced in facilitating group programs and would like to play an integral role in developing a lived experience program focused on assisting young parents to strengthen their parenting capacity? If so, Junction's new Group Facilitator - Growing Together role may be the perfect fit for you.
As the Group Facilitator, you will develop a "Growing Together for young parents" training program in conjunction with young parents who will become Lived Experience Advisors. This program will then be used by the Lived Experience Advisors to help other young parents strengthen their parenting capacity and the health and well-being of their children.
Your previous experience facilitating, leading, and developing groups coupled with your knowledge of community development principles and frameworks will play a key part in developing the new program. You have a sound understanding of child development and the risk factors that may present as social disengagement for young parents who have been in the care system or are at risk of going into the protection system. Your strong communication and interpersonal skills will be highly valued in strengthening interagency links and pathways that improve access to relevant services.
You will be a valued part of our close-knit team which is highly regarded for delivering quality support services in the Southern region.
About you:
We are seeking a highly motivated person who:
Has experience in facilitating, leading, and developing groups
Possesses knowledge of community development principles and frameworks
Has both knowledge and an understanding of supporting peer mentors in a lived experience program
Has both knowledge and an understanding of the issues and risk factors for young parents who have been in the care and protection system (or risk of)
Holds tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (Social Work, Psychology, Health), or holds a minimum of a Diploma in Community Services (or equivalent) coupled with a minimum of two year’s relevant experience
