Form of work An exciting opportunity is available to join a diverse Australian company in the Marine and Aviation Industry. Working across a large portfolio you will partner with key stakeholders within the business to drive organisational performance across financial and commercial functions.
You will oversee the day-to-day delivery of the finance function and provide strong leadership and mentoring to maintain and grow the finance team. Nurturing stakeholder relationships and the creation of a supportive and cohesive team culture is paramount and you will engage in improving finance systems, value add reporting, special projects, budgeting and forecasting, and planning for company growth!

Role Responsibilities
Preparation of accurate monthly management accounts in accordance with group through to a full group consolidated P&L, balance sheet and statutory cashflow.
All balance sheet accounts reconciled and presented with management accounts by WD5,
Ensuring that all reports are delivered to stakeholders by due dates, including P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Variance Analysis and Cash flow reports including commentary around any variances against budget
Consolidate management pack + commentary around variance across 5 businesses
Daily cash management and forecasts ensuring strong cash management principles and forecast modelling is administered
Monthly Reporting as required – fuel reports, revenue flash reports, R&M reports
Recruit, mentor and develop a team of high performing professionals in each of the support and service areas of accounting.
Manage all the IT asset purchases across the group (ensuring the best value for money in our purchasing)
Work with the external IT provider to ensure costs savings are being made in areas that we can make savings in
Assist with tax planning and management for the Group
Assist with the annual insurance renewals for the Group
Manage the planning and budgeting process and the alignment with the strategic direction
Manage the internal and external audit requirements
Ensure corporate governance and compliance of all statutory and common law obligations are strictly enforced across the group
Seeking out and promoting continuous improvement initiatives throughout the business
Maintain and improve control environment and promoting a culture of financial control and accountability
Ad hoc reporting as requested by senior management and/or the board
Provide back up and support to other members of the finance team as required
Value adding reporting with the senior management to assist with decision making process including financial input into acquisition opportunities (financial Modelling)
Skills and Experience
Strong leadership skills
Be self-driven and have the ability to consistently meet all deadlines
Strong organisational and time management skills with an ability to prioritise and manage workload, and adapt to changing circumstances
Ability to work through complex commercial issues and recommend a course of action
Ability to drive efficiencies, insights and informed decision making through extensive analysis.
5+ years of people management experience with strong leadership qualities to build the team
Computer/IT savvy with intermediate to advance excel skills
Demonstrated and proven experience in accounting related roles preferably within a commercial environment
Intermediate to Advance excel skills
Strong technically in accounting standards, consolidation of entities, tax requirement, audit, financial modelling.
Qualifications
Minimum 10+ years accounting/finance/commercial experience
Relevant tertiary qualifications
CPA or CA qualified
