About the Position.
This is a new role in council, replacing the separate previous roles of Workplaces Health and Safety and Human Resources Coordinator.
Based in Jundah, and reporting directly to the Chief Executive officer, the successful applicant will be a core member of the Executive Leadership Team and will have direct responsibility for the functions of Human Resources, Organisational Culture and Governance, and Workplace Health and Safety.
With a small team, the role will have both strategic and operational functions in line with the Barcoo Shire Council Corporate plan ethos of simplicity in workplace delivery. A critical part of the role will be aligned to the People Strategy of Barcoo Shire Council and will both advise and be directly involved in the recruitment, development and retention of staff and contractors to the Shire.
About you
A current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment training is an essential requirement of this position. In addition, holding, currently completing, or being willing to obtain a certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety will also be a requirement. In addition, being willing to undertake the necessary training as approved by the Queensland Workers Compensation Regulator to be classified as councils Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator will be required for this position.
Council is seeking a person with significant experience in managing people, recruiting staff and dealing with workplace conflict. Contemporary experience within the Queensland local government sector will be greatly valued and will add to a significant understanding of both the governance requirements and industrial provisions required at the Barcoo Shire Council.
The position will have the small Council Services Team report directly to it and be a key advisor to the Executive Leadership Team. It will have direct responsibility for strategic leadership, policy development and program delivery.
