About the role
Under the direction of the Hotel Services Manager you will be responsible for all aspects of food preparation and cooking for our residents meeting their special dietary requirements. You will prepare and deliver quality food services to LHG consumers in line with the Work Health & Safety Act 2012 (SA), Aged Care Quality Standards and Food Safety Legislation. Duties
Provide a best practice, professional cooking service consistently providing high quality meals for care recipients
Ensure care recipient’s rights and choices are acknowledged in menu development and selection.
Work in conjunction with the Hotel Services Manager in providing nutritionally balanced meals, special diets, and safe practice in preparing texture modified meals
Manage catering requests including functions, meetings and training
Assist with the management of kitchen budgets and ordering of stock
Promote an inclusive environment and employee culture that places consumers at the centre of all processes
Assist with the coordination and plating of meals when required
Assist in all kitchen areas when required.
Weekend work required About you
You know and care about the importance that food plays in the overall wellbeing of aged care residents. Providing tasty, nutritious and visually appetising meals they will enjoy is essential to you as a passionate individual who enjoys the art of cooking.
Minimum 2 years previous experience working in a commercial kitchen as a Cook/Chef
Good understanding of work health, safety and hygiene practices
Strong organisational, time management and prioritisation skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Supervision skills and the ability to bring out the best in others
Self-directed and able to work autonomously
Aged Care/ healthcare experience highly regarded
Able to work collaboratively with a diverse range of people in a fast-paced and high-volume environment
Basic Microsoft 365 skills.
Candidates may be subject to a pre-employment medical assessment and if successful, you will require the 2022 Flu Vaccination, COVID-19 2 doses and 1 booster and a current National Police Check for the purposes of working in aged care. How to apply
