The successful applicant will work across the three centres to develop and articulate a shared vision focussed on providing quality teaching and learning outcomes for all students. The position will focus on building staff capability in the area of pedagogy and engagement as well as identifying links between the curriculum and centre programs. Developing a means of measuring student learning in the areas of personal and social capabilities, well-being and engagement will also be a part of this role.

About the Centres
Each of the three centres run a variety of day and multi day programs delivering a mixture of teaching and learning opportunities to students from P - 12. There is a strong focus on student well-being and engagement as well as explicit links to the Personal and Social capabilities cross curricular priorities.
Explicit teaching and learning that links to the Science and Physical education curriculum is also a major part of the centres programming, as is the modelling and practical application of environmental and sustainable practices. All three centres are located within a 90-minute drive of each other. The position will entail travel but it is envisaged that the successful applicant will be based at ONE of the centres for the majority of time, which will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
About the Role
Hands on experience in the teaching and learning practices of outdoor and environmental education will be highly regarded when filling this position.
As the Head of Department - Outdoor and Environmental Education FNQ, you will have responsibility for liaising with the Principal of each centre to:
- Develop, articulate and commit to a shared vision focussed on providing quality teaching and learning outcomes for all students.
- Identify and lead staff capability training in the areas of pedagogy and engagement
- Identify links between Curriculum and centre programs and developing strategies and resources to embed such links in centre programs
- Develop resources to track student learning and student development in the areas of personal and social capabilities and well-being and engagement.
Additional Information
Recent relevant experience in the delivery of outdoor and environmental education programs will be highly regarded.
Relevant qualifications and certifications aligned to the centre's programs will be highly regarded. E.g. RMDL, canoeing, abseiling, high ropes, orienteering.
Familiarity with Education Queensland CARA's and the Australian Adventure Activity Standard and Good Practice Guides will be highly regarded.
Travel between the three centres is a requirement of this position. Please note, a departmental car is not provided.
