Founded in 1987 and today led by a second-generation CEO, Carbatec is a family-owned business that has grown to become one of Australasia’s largest DIY and woodworking tools supply companies, with stores in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, Adelaide, Hobart, Auckland and Christchurch.
Delivering on its mission to “inspire, educate and support woodworkers”, the Carbatec team is the trusted source for woodwork enthusiasts, priding themselves on passion, industry expertise, brand knowledge and dedication to customers. Team members are woodworking enthusiasts themselves and regularly host creative classes in-store.
In addition to its own retail network, Carbatec sells through wholesale and retail channels to an extensive network of independent dealers, and has developed a significant online retail presence to complement its bricks & mortar footprint.
About the Role:
You will take genuine ownership of the Marketing function and report to the CEO in what is a key position in the company’s Executive Leadership Team.
Leading (and growing – you’ll quickly be recruiting additional support) a small team, your initial brief will include overseeing development of a new website. Beyond that, you will own Marketing strategy and drive excellence in its execution across all the channels mentioned above.
Carbatec’s business is complex and you will work in an environment including physical retail, online retail, wholesale, import and export operations. Of critical importance is your willingness to engage hands-on with those operations, be genuinely curious about how the company operates at a practical level, and be willing to “roll your sleeves up” in developing your understanding.
About You:
You are a Marketing professional who can speak to:
- A history of success in B2C environments, including in or with physical retail businesses.
- Specific experience in delivering retail sales growth through e-commerce platforms.
- Using digital avenues to drive sales, ensuring content and technical configuration achieves successful SEO.
- A track record of developing and implementing marketing campaigns that drive both audience growth and achievement of sales objectives.
- Developing collateral for both in-store and online initiatives.
- Successful collaboration across various divisions of the businesses you work for to achieve shared goals.
At a personal level, you have strong values and want to work with people who respect you for demonstrating behaviours aligned to them.
