About the opportunity

As the Head Of Safety and Wellbeing, you will manage a team comprised of 11 Senior Safety and Safety Specialists, across our Northern division where you will drive the implementation of the Safety & wellbeing strategic plan across processing, first and last mile and transport in NSW, ACT & QLD. Reporting into the General Manager of Network Operations, Divisional North, you will act as the liaison to the Enterprise and Operations Excellence as well as constructively challenge decisions that don’t align to the strategic direction.

With strong knowledge of relevant Safety legislation, policies and processes you will be responsible for driving safety engagement and creating a consistent approach to implementing initiatives. With a strong focus on supporting and leading your team, you will have accountability to look beyond implementation and to address the exposure of risk while collaborating closely with your counterparts on the execution of the safety strategy.

You’ll also

• Provide expert and relevant safety advice and support on strategies to embed safety leadership, initiatives, culture and improved standards in the workplace
• Manage, coach and develop the team of Safety Specialists to execute the Enterprise Safety strategy within the Deliveries region
• Analyse trends from the regions in order to identify opportunities for improvement in communication, education or intervention then implement though the Safety Specialists at the local level
• Responsible for managing the team budget and coordinating financial reporting to agreed timelines
• Educate and coach leadership teams about the Safety strategy and work plan to ensure there is appropriate commitment and support to enable its execution

About you

You have excellence in communication and enjoy a collaborative workplace with the ability to challenge and investigate areas of improvement. Your ability to influence conversations at an executive level is a strength of yours blended with your approachable nature and willingness to support, coach and empower your team is an artful balance you exhibit.

You’ll also have

• Significant experience in a Safety Management position within a high-risk environment
• Demonstrated ability to interpret safety legislation, policies and procedures
• Experience within an industrialised environment is desirable but not essential
• OH&S relevant qualification
