Position Information
Murwillumbah is located on the far North Coast of NSW, 20 minutes from the Gold Coast International Airport. The school maintains strong connections with a diverse community. Murwillumbah is well known for its agricultural and arts industries. During 2024 Murwillumbah High School and Wollumbin High School will merge to become the Murwillumbah Learning Community High School. Murwillumbah High School will collocate with Wollumbin High School on the Wollumbin site from the start of 2023. The combined school operation will have approximately 800 students with 10% Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander background. There are 6 support classes with a strong focus on inclusivity and integration. These will be located in purpose built temporary accommodation whilst the new school is being constructed on the Murwillumbah High School Site.

Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills with the proven capacity to engage all stakeholders in the delivery of individualised educational programs for students with additional needs
- Demonstrated capacity to lead innovative approaches to curriculum
- Demonstrated capacity to lead a whole school culture of inclusion
- Demonstrated capacity to contribute to whole school improvement as an active member of the school executive team
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
