Job Description
Assessors are health and allied health professionals who work with Services Australia customers.
This is a customer focused role, with assessors using their professional knowledge and skills to assess people with medical, psychological or social barriers to employment. Assessments are conducted by telephone, video chat and face to face.
Assessors review people’s capacity to work, assess medical eligibility for Services Australia payments, and refer people to employment service programs.
Assessors use judgement, skills and knowledge to interpret and apply government policy and guidelines to decision making.
Assessors use a variety of information and communication technologies (ICT) to communicate and document their work and decisions.
Assessors manage their work in the context of changing priorities and practices.
They work under the limited direction of more senior professional staff.
Assessors may work in a virtual team or across multiple sites within a reasonable travel distance.
Assessors can be exercise physiologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, registered nurses, rehabilitation counsellors or social workers.
Work Environment
These roles are not site specific, they are being offered at Services Australia locations Australia wide. These positions are full-time due to operational requirements (part-time can be considered on a case-by-case basis). Assessment Services Branch is looking for psychologists, registered nurses exercise physiologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, rehabilitation counsellors or social workers.
