About the project
The Princes Highway is an important part of the National Highway network, linking Melbourne, Gippsland and South East New South Wales (NSW). It is a major transport route for tourist traffic bound for the Gippsland Lakes, the high country and the south coast of NSW and supports key regional industries including dairy, grazing, timber, paper, and coal and gas production.
The Princes Highway East Duplication will add 43kms of new lanes to the Princes Highway between Traralgon and Sale and is being delivered in three stages. Stages 1 and 2 are already complete. Stage 3 for the remaining two sections at Flynn and Kilmany will add an extra 12km of lanes in each direction, delivering a total of 43km of duplicated highway across the entire project.
Laing O’Rourke will manage the design and construction of the Princes Highway East Duplication - Traralgon to Sale (Stage 3) - Kilmany Section (PHEK).
We are currently seeking a Health and Safety Advisor to join the Princes Highway East Project. This permanent role offers great career prospects with a privately-owned tier 1 constructor and international engineering enterprise.
Key responsibilities
- Facilitate the implementation of the Laing O’Rourke HSE Management System and Project HSE Management Plans in accordance with company requirements
- Coach, mentor and support project personnel to continually improve the culture and performance of the project team and Laing O’Rourke’s Next Gear philosophy.
- Complete, facilitate and mentor accident investigations up to and including Potential Class 1
- Assist in the coordination and undertaking of HSE assurance activities including audits and support the project in developing and closing out any actions arising
About you
- Relevant Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety
- Experience on building and rail projects, ideally in Australia
- Demonstrated audit experience along with experience in coaching to develop safety peers and project personnel in Health & Safety.
