The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity available for a Health and Safety Advisor to join the APA Networks team in Thomastown, Victoria Fulltime.
Reporting to the Health and Safety Team Lead, you will support the safe execution of APA operations and project activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure ongoing development of line leader H&S capability in the safe execution of work activities and the local execution of Health and Safety programs and initiatives
- Provide support to develop ongoing improvement of HSW programs and initiatives and understands the difference between working with employees and contractors how to tailor the approach to both groups
- Support line leaders to report and investigate injuries and illness and validate the reporting of H&S data in relevant systems
- Attend regular local Health and Safety committees and forums
- Support line leaders to interpret H&S data and identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Effectively facilitate and coordinate local execution of drug and alcohol testing, occupational hygiene exposure assessments and monitoring, with the ability to communicate outcomes to line leaders and support the identification of corrective actions
About You
- Tertiary qualification in HSE and experience in a similar industry, highly advantageous
- Experience executing and supporting health, safety and wellbeing processes and initiatives for mid-large size organisations
- Self-starter who has the ability to engage and coach line leaders in improving Health and Safety performance
- Strong communication skills and the ability to educate teams on H&S regulatory changes and impacts
- Pragmatic approach to converting HSEH systems and reports into layman's terms to convey key messages.

Networks manages and operates transmission pipelines and local distribution networks that deliver gas to around 1.4 million households and businesses across Australia.
This is an exciting time for the Networks team, we are growing and expanding with many new projects, including 2032 Olympics. Also, we have a strong culture of continuous improvement and working towards Net Zero with the introduction of renewable green gas into the Gas Networks.
