The Health & Safety Coordinator (Construction Projects) plays an integral role in assisting ACCIONA Energia's renewable energy project teams to prepare for construction and perform delivery programs in accordance with ACCIONA's corporate standards. It is a highly collaborative function which demands a high level of interpersonal skills. The position is based in Brisbane and requires frequent visits to sites and occasional visits to our head office in Melbourne.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and continuous review of project health & safety principal contractor requirements consistent with corporate objectives, including the writing and review of required plans and procedures,
- Frequent travel to project locations to monitor and support the implementation of the project health and safety plan throughout execution,
- Conduct internal audits and support external audits to confirm compliance with regulatory, ISO management system certification and other business requirements including accreditation to the Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner,
- Lead incident investigations,
- Participate and support safety in design requirements,
- Support implementation of BuildSafe and other corporate ACCIONA initiatives,
- Support risk management activities specific to HSE outcomes,
- Form collaborative working relationships across the business.
- 5-10 years’ experience as a Health & Safety professional working in the construction industry.
- Degree qualification or relevant industry experience in a related field.
- ICAM or equivalent lead investigator training.
- Office of the Federal Safety commissioner accreditation experience desirable.
- Knowledge of applicable local laws, codes and regulations particularly relevant to Queensland desirable.
- Effective report and procedure / plan writing and communication skills.
- Demonstrated capacity to work both autonomously and within the team environment; use initiative; solve problems through analytical thinking.
- Strong interpersonal skills & ability to form close working relationships.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Flexibility to travel frequently to projects and at short notice as required.
