For more than 50 years, Southern Cross Care has been providing quality aged care and retirement living services to our community. We're guided by our compassionate, capable, collaborative and creative values, and we want people who share these values to join our team.
Right now we're looking for a Health and Wellness Promoter to join our Care Support Team.
About the role
The Health and Wellness Promoter is required to create opportunities for Southern Cross Care residents to participate in physical activity via individual and group exercise programs.
You'll work as part of a multidisciplinary Early Intervention team, to improve mobility and quality of life, while identifying and developing recovery pathways for those at risk of frailty and decline.
Developing and designing tailored exercise programs that suit resident needs and goals, your work will form part of a long term plan with residents to improve their abilities and quality of life, and will include screenings, fitness appraisal and instruction. Your responsibilities will also extend to gym coordination, ensuring our Health and Wellness Centre has suitable resources for programs and is maintained in a clean and safe manner.
Demonstrating competencies in goal setting in a person centred care environment, you'll have experience in selecting appropriate exercise programs for older individuals including those with impairments and frailty. You'll possess excellent project management, planning, time management and leadership skills, and be able to collaborate in case management situations with others to make effective decisions and problem solve.
A Certificate IV (or higher) in Fitness, Sport Science, Human Movement or Exercise Physiology is essential for this position, and accreditation with Physical Activity Australia, Fitness Australia or Exercise and Sports Science Australia is required.
