The Position:
The primary purpose of the Health Promotion / Inhalant Supply Reduction Officer will be to:
Inform and educate retailers and contractors in relation to inhalant supply reduction.
Monitor theft, sales and use of inhalants
Undertake community education regarding effective VSM interventions.
The part time position will be Cherbourg based servicing the South Burnett region.

About CRAICCHS:
Cherbourg Regional Aboriginal and Islander Community Controlled Health Service (CRAICCHS) is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Organisation.
CRAICCHS objective is to provide increased access to quality primary health care and social and emotional wellbeing services to the Communities in the South Burnett regions.
Key Duties:
The duties will be diverse and the duties required of the successful applicant will include:
Work with the coordinator to inform and educate retailers and contractors in relation to inhalant supply reduction
Update CRAICCHS existing database of retailers and contractors.
Schedule visits with all relevant retailers and contractors.
Update database in relation to contacts and feedback concerning theft and sales issues.
Distribute retailer and contractor VSM supply reduction kits.
Promote the existence of the database and encourage all key community informants to provide information when there are VSU outbreaks.
Provide training, workshops and information sessions in relation to VSM issues.
Work in partnership with state-wide capacity building agency Dovetail to support local community inhalant planning.
Develop regional understandings of the issue in order to develop local place-based solutions.
Develop a rapid response to any outbreaks of inhalant use in the South Burnett Local Government Area.
Key Requirements:
The successful applicant will need to be able to:
Demonstrate a minimum qualification of a Cert III in Youth Work or similar fields
and/or
Significant relevant experience
and/or
The willingness to study toward a Cert III in Youth Work
Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person – renewable contract opportunities may be made available for applicants who do not identify as Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander
Communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people
Work sensitively and effectively with vulnerable Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander youth and their families, with an understanding of the holistic needs of the client and their family
Hold a current driver licence
Provide a current Positive Blue Card (working with children and young people) or be able to quickly acquire
Provide a double covid vaccination certificate
