We are seeking a Health Promotion Officer to join us in Nhill in a full time capacity (40 hours per week, including Accrued Days Off), who is passionate about maintaining and improving the health of populations and excited by the opportunity to make a difference in rural communities!
Midway between Melbourne and Adelaide, Nhill is a thriving country town surrounded by a number of state and national parks, offering endless sunsets and scenic views. ABOUT THE ROLE
- As a major health service in the Wimmera, WWHS has a lead coordinating role to play in Health Promotion both within WWHS and through partnerships with other regional stakeholders.
- Our Health promotion team are committed to encouraging healthy lifestyles and improving awareness of health and risks, promoting prevention over treatment.
- The successful applicant will support the planning, development and implementation of a range of Health Promotion initiatives.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:
Essential:
- Effective communication and organisational skills.
- High level of autonomy and excellent critical thinking.
- Qualifications in Health Promotion, Public Health, Nursing, Allied Health or other relevant discipline.
- Experience in Health Promotion program planning, implementation and evaluation, and in the coordination of Health Promotion activities.
- Ability to identify and develop effective partnerships with appropriate stakeholders and organisations.
- Report and resource writing skills, and excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Competence in using computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. and technology systems for literature review.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of contemporary Health Promotion theory and practice.
- Commitment to working in the region in largely community-based settings, with flexible hours including after hours and weekend work as required
- Experience working in a rural setting.
- Experience in working with youth and/or schools as stakeholders
- Relevant post-graduate qualifications.
- Experience with needs assessment, and evidence-based strategies appropriate to a diverse range of people (culture, socio economic, geographic, etc).
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
- Working with Children Check
- Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 as per current Department of Health Directive.
- Flu Vaccination
- Australian Driver’s Licence
