ABOUT THE ROLE

The Health & Safety Business Partner supports and partners with key stakeholders to build the Generation & Development portfolio’s Health & Safety knowledge and capability, while providing specialist advice and coaching to ensure the Generation & Development team are focused on the high risks and maintain a suite of controls to mitigate unwanted events. It would also include completing assurance activities and building the capability of the site regarding assurance to monitor compliance and functionality.

This position promotes a high performing, positive and proactive workplace health and safety culture focussed on meeting Origin HSE objectives and statutory requirements. This role will primarily support the Principal Health & Safety Business Partner at Eraring Power Station while also closely supporting the broader HSE and Generation & Development community. As the energy transition progresses the role may evolve to include similar responsibilities for other Origin assets or Business Units.

Responsibilities include:

-Support the development and implementation of site-based health and safety and management plans. 
-Contribute to the development and implementation of the health, hygiene, and wellbeing strategy and initiatives for Generation & Development in collaboration with the Corporate Health and Safety team.  
-Conduct contractor HSE assessments.  
-Lead and support change initiatives to promote continual improvement and ensure that Health and Safety Management Systems are implemented effectively, add value and are user focussed.
-Conduct regular visits to all areas of responsibility interacting with the management team and workforce to determine suitability of processes, risk management, safety behaviours, field inspections and system audits

-Coach frontline supervisory staff in safety conversations and control verification discussions. 
-Support Generation and Development in the implementation of the Level 1 Assurance Plan.
-Work closely with contract owners to ensure that health and safety risks are identified, and assurance is undertaken as per the requirements of the Origin Contractor Management process
-Provide advice, support, coaching and mentoring to promote a strong learning culture.  
 

ABOUT YOU

Your success in this role will be determined by your excellent communication skills and your ability to build strong relationships.

Ideally you’ll have experience in the following areas:

-3 years plus working in a HSE role within heavy industrial organisations or 5 years plus working in a technical gas or electrical role  
-Knowledge of applicable HSE legislation 
-Risk management 
-Contractor management 
-Incident investigations 
-Experience in leading, coaching or mentoring 
-Demonstrated high motivation and output under minimal supervision
