Wirraka Maya Health Services Aboriginal Corporation is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service designed to ensure our clients' journey through the health system meets their medical, health, social and cultural needs with a vision that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Pilbara have the opportunity to live a health life, with access to culturally appropriate, holistic primary and allied healthcare; social and emotional wellbeing services and education.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join Wirraka Maya Health Service Aboriginal Corporation as the Health Transition to Adulthood (HTTA) Coordinator. This full-time position is based in South Hedland within the SEWB department and will play a crucial role in supporting the community through the Transition to Adulthood for health-related services. As the HTTA Coordinator, your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing programs that support young adults in their Transition to Adulthood, with a focus on mental health and wellbeing.
- Coordinating and facilitating workshops, group activities, and one-on-one support sessions to address the specific needs of individuals transitioning into Adulthood.
- Liaising with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure holistic support for clients during their transition period.
- Providing culturally sensitive guidance and advocacy for young adults accessing health services within the community.
- Collaborating with other departments to integrate mental health and wellbeing initiatives into broader community service programs.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A relevant qualification in social work, psychology, public health or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal communities and understanding of their cultural sensitivities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with young adults from diverse backgrounds.
- An understanding of mental health issues faced by young people during their Transition to Adulthood.
- The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
