HOLTER/ECG MANAGER

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Head of Holter/ECG provides expertise in the specialised area of cardiac rhythm management. They must provide a quality, sustainable Holter/ECG service facilitated by active participation in the multi-disciplinary execution of patient centred service delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for managing the day to day, Holter Monitoring, ECG, Stress lists and BP Monitor testing procedures for all Heart and Vascular clinics.

Provide consistent and high-quality training outcomes for trainee staff.

Provide a prompt, efficient and safe Holter/ECG service to all patients.

Assist with Pacemaker Clinics by using programmers to integrate devices.

Assisting and advising with the Home Monitoring restructure and its integration with patient management software

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for managing the day to day, Holter Monitoring, ECG, Stress lists and BP Monitor testing procedures for all Heart and Vascular clinics.

Analysing Holter monitors, ECGs and BP Monitor data.

Troubleshooting of Holter Monitors, ECG and BP Monitors for all locations.

Assessing and sending ECG, Holter and 24hr BP monitors away for servicing and repairs.

Phoning/faxing urgent results to client doctors.

Performing administration related duties.

Able to support patient with of application Holter Monitors, ECGs and BP Monitor tests.

Assist Cardiologists with Exercise Stress Tests.

Review and determine appropriate protocols based on clinical indications. Seek support from Cardiologists when required.

Plan, prioritise and organise individual workloads and, where applicable, coordinate the workload of the Holter/ECG service and staff roster.

Opportunity to assist with Pacemaker Clinics by using programmers to integrate devices, analyse information and report to the doctors, including any programming changes required.

Overseeing restructure of remote monitoring including managing alert and scheduled transmissions.

MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in the management of the Holter/ECG team ensuring the most effective use of time and resource.

Oversee Quality Assurance programs and audits.

Support, mentor, educate and evaluate fellow staff members in Holter/ECG.

Develop, implement, and maintain Holter/ECG training programs.

Manage the performance of staff effectively and take appropriate remedial action when necessary, addressing under performance proactively.

Assist in the management and handling of complaints and demonstrate the ability to escalate concerns where appropriate.

Always communicate effectively and maintain a harmonious working environment, demonstrating an understanding of conflict resolution.

Be responsible for the recording of patient examination information on the practice management software, highlighting and correcting discrepancies proactively as needed.

Maintain a safe environment ensuring Health and Safety guidelines are implemented and adhered to.

Ensure the availability of appropriate resources for patient care through controlling departmental consumable stock.

Ensure equipment is in good working order, and that systems are in place to repair, replace and communicate when damaged.

Participate in equipment/software reviews and apply any changes to continually improve standards.

Liaise with operational leads to highlight any staffing concerns that could impact service delivery.

Recruit, select and appoint new staff as required to maintain adequate Holter/ECG workforce.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Undertake formal or informal training when required to fulfil the remit of the role.

Assist in the training and development of colleagues in performing Holter/ECG examinations.

Ensure all new staff receive a full orientation to the practice.

Maintain compliance with mandatory training as required by practice policies.

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Act as a role model to other staff members, in terms of patient care, punctuality, knowledge and skills.

Keep abreast of current developments in Holter/ECG and ensure evidence-based practice.

Develop new skills and knowledge pertaining to the speciality as required.

Promote awareness and compliance amongst colleagues regarding practice policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards.

Be aware of limitations to practice and seek guidance as and when necessary.
