Job description

We are currently seeking a Farm Supervisor to assist with the day-to-day management of our macadamia and avocado orchards.
Reporting to the farm manager this unique position will suit a self-motivated individual looking to become part of an organisation that exist for the good of the community. As a not-for-profit organisation all the profits generated from our farming operations are invested back into the community through our counseling services and youth programs. By joining our team, you will be contributing to growing futures in the Bundaberg community.
Your main responsibility will be to support the farm manager with the coordination and execution of the day to day farm operations.
Tasks will include but are not limited to:
- Ensuring a high standard of workplace safety standards are maintained at all time to protect staff, visitors and contractors
- Implementation of agronomist recommendations with regards to fertigation, pest control and general orchard management
- Scheduling and maintaining irrigation in the orchard
- General machinery maintenance
- Collaboration in harvest planning
- Liaising with external suppliers and other stake holders when needed
- Management of the casual seasonal workers during harvest season
- Co-ordination of harvest with the external pack house
- Interacting with school students who may visit the farm as part of community programs
Key requirements:
- Commitment to a safety first culture
- Willingness to work in a team
- Proven ability to manage staff
- Current tractor operating and spraying experience
- Forklift license or willingness to obtain
- Chemical certificate or willingness to obtain
- Experience in adhering to Freshcare requirements
- Ability to complete physically demanding tasks
- First Aid training
- Current drivers licence
- Current Blue Card (working with Children) or willing to obtain
