As a plant junior buyer, you will be supporting the product sourcing, supply, maintenance and sales and profit growth of the plant care - the main tasks will be to prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services and purchase the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in correct amounts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Creation & presentation of range plans for all Department & sub-category product on a monthly and quarterly basis
- Productive implementation of the agreed 52-week Plant & Allied buying plan
- Management of all Plant & Allied supplier relationships to Eden policy & strategy
- Alignment of all supplier terms including supply process, payment, packaging & quality
- Range management down to line item finished margin & new product development
- Volume matching to sales rhythm & margin management for profit growth
- Inventory & stock turn management including continuity, waste & shrink
- Operational support to marketing communications & retail to ensure business productivity gain
- Contribution to business innovation & efficiency improvement processes
- Monitoring & reporting on category trends on an ongoing basis as input into planning process
Skills / Qualifications required:
- Proven experience as a retail buyer or relevant role
- Outstanding communication abilities
- Excellent organizational skills
- Demonstrable aptitude in effective negotiating
- Up to speed with purchasing best practices
- Familiarity with market research, data analysis and forecasting techniques
- Current drivers’ licence and ability to travel to multiple sites
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Proactive and agile approach.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office; working knowledge of purchasing software (e.g. SpendMap) is an advantage
