What You'll Do
The Horticulturist (Nursery) is responsible for providing technical support as part of the Nursery team to deliver nursery activities including propagation and growing on plant material, living plant collections curation, plant records, biosecurity, storage and use of hazardous substances, irrigation and applied horticultural research to contribute to the achievement of branch objectives.
What You'll Bring
The successful candidate will hold a trade or advanced certificate in Horticulture (Nursery) or have equivalent industry experience. With demonstrated experience in a specialist plant nursery, you will have sound knowledge of current nursery practices, plant ID, propagation and curation. You are well versed in weed and pest management practices and optimising plant performance within controlled environments. Safety-focussed, you can operate horticultural and nursery equipment, wear PPE and follow procedures with rigour. Your excellent communication skills enable you to work well within a team but also interact with visitors and other clients of a tourist destination. You are now looking to make a meaningful contribution to an internationally recognised organisation on a full-time, fixed-term basis.
Please note the successful candidate must have completed a Farm Chemical Users course or hold an Agricultural Chemical Users permit.
