Cairns Queens Court, a premier hotel located in Cairns, is seeking a Hotel Night Caretaker to join our dedicated team and become an essential part of our guest experience.
As a Hotel Night Caretaker, your primary responsibility will be to maintain a safe and secure environment for our guests during the night shift. You'll be the friendly face they see and the helpful voice they hear in case of any emergencies or concerns. You'll play a vital role in ensuring that our guests have a peaceful and restful stay at Cairns Queens Court.
Responsibilities:
- Welcome guests with a warm and friendly demeanour upon their arrival during the night shift (for those that cannot follow the self check in process).
- Provide excellent customer service, promptly addressing any guest queries, concerns, or requests.
- Ensure the security and safety of the hotel premises, monitoring surveillance cameras, and conducting regular patrols to identify and address any unusual activity.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to guest emergencies, following the established protocols and coordinating with appropriate personnel as required.
- Conduct regular inspections of hotel facilities, identifying and reporting any maintenance, cleanliness, or safety issues to the relevant departments.
- Collaborate with the daytime staff to ensure a smooth transition for guests between the night and morning shifts.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a customer service role, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Excellent communication skills with a fluency in English.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet.
- Attention to detail and an observant nature.
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility to work night shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Must have the right to work in Australia. Permanent Residents and Citizens only need apply. This is NOT suitable for WHV applicants as this is a long term role.
Salary and Benefits:
Please note - Whilst some nights can be a little busy, the role itself is very basic, and has minimal contact hours. The role is more so to have the peace of mind that there is a physical management presence overnight at the hotel. No traditional night audit duties are required. To this end - the role comes with free living, but there is no cash component associated with it. The free accommodation and utilities more than offsets any work actually undertaken.

Paid employment during the day is also available (maintenance, reception, as well as in housekeeping). To be discussed based on applicants skill set and requirements. Preference will be given to anybody that has maintenance skills / qualifications, that is also looking for paid employment at the hotel during the day.
