About the role
UGL are currently seeking Expressions of Interest for a suitably qualified HSE Lead to work on a Brownfield Construction Project in Darwin, Northern Territory. The project will commence in February 2024, with an estimated 9–12-month duration. You will be a local Darwin resident or will work on a 2/2 roster, FIFO from capital cities within Australia.
As a key member of our site-based leadership team, this role will be responsible for providing direction and support for all safety, health and environment management activities on the project. This role will also aid our Client HSSE Manager and the UGL Leadership Team.
Key responsibility areas
Provide advice and support to UGL Leadership team and Client Safety Manager and Safety Advisors in the implementation and auditing of Safety, Health and Environment Management Plans
Ensuring compliance with the Safety and Environment Management plan, Traffic Management plan and Fatigue Management plan
Advise on all safety, health and environmental issues
Analyse safety statistics, and report on trends and recommend actions to improve safety
Ensure reporting requirements are completed including weekly reporting to our Client & the UGL Contract Manager
Conduct and facilitate incident investigations in a timely manner (UGL and site requirements) ensuring that actions are developed and closed out accordingly
Audit work packs to ensure Work Method Statements, JHA's, and other hazard identification processes are completed prior to commencement of work
Review all project activities, work practices and procedures for continuous improvement in safety, health and environment
Provide support and advice to Supervisors in order to achieve health and safety objectives
About You
You will inspire your team, draw on their diverse skills and create an environment where great ideas are heard, and everyone looks out for one another. Ideally you will have:
5 years’ experience in a similar role
Formal qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety
Highly developed knowledge of OH&S legislation, Codes of Practice and Australian and State Standards as they apply to the construction and maintenance industry
Ability to produce risk assessments and reports for project specific activities
Experience in maintenance or shutdown projects
Computer literacy and proficiency in the use of Microsoft products in particular Word, Excel and Outlook
