The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Health Safety and Environment (HSE) Supervisor to join our west coast team based at our office in Naval Base. In this permanent full-time role, you will support the National Safety Manager to oversee, manage, and provide support to our teams and ensuring the effective delivery and continuous improvement of occupational health and safety management. You will advise on and support the company’s strategy to prevent harm to its people and the business, by maintaining and promoting HSE systems and processes while making recommendations to establish best practice standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
Reporting to the National Safety Manager, your main responsibilities will include:
- Maintain and update the HEPI Integrated Management System (IMS) Manual, in conjunction with HEPA National Safety Manager and other major stakeholders,
- Maintain quarterly risk register review.
- Maintain and manage the Plan on a Page (POP).
- Support and maintain local ISO compliance.
- Assist site to manage internal and external audit findings.
- Regularly review the Corrective Action and Improvement Register
- Maintain, update and implement safety policies and procedures to reflect HEPI Group Policies, current legislation and best practice.
- Support National Safety Manager and divisional Branch Manager’s and their divisions as required.
- Conduct regular safety audits and area inspections in relation to safety standards and HEPI procedures.
- Ensure sites and HSE staff are fulling their KPI’s.
- Manage and coordinate all investigations following safety incidents.
- Identify training needs following safety incidents and make recommendations.
- Provide Safety risk tools training as required i.e. Take 5, JSA, OHAs, Hazards ID
- Provide administrative and direct support for workers’ compensation, injury management and return to work programs.
- Develop and maintain HEPI fire evacuation procedure and assist with annual emergency evacuation drills.
- Ensure adequate stock of printed safety resources (Take 5 books, Hazard Report books, pre-start books etc.).
- Provide mentoring to Supervisors on VOC and drive the training process at HEPI (work in conjunction with the Training Manager).
About You
To be considered for this position you will ideally have:
- Minimum four years’ experience in a similar role
- A Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
- Experience managing site environmental issues, including but not limited to sustainability, Environmental Aspect and Impacts
- Current First Aid certificate.
- Have completed ICAM Investigation training and have experience in conducting incident investigations and implementing follow up.
- Experience in workers’ compensation regulation, injury management and return to work programs.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Knowledge of current WHS legislation and best practice.
- Experience with developing and implementing OH&S procedures.
