Project Overview
The Queensland Train Manufacturing Program is a multibillion project starting in 2023 with an estimated full train sets manufacturing and delivery by the end 2031. The project includes the design, construction and commissioning of: a new manufacturing facility in Torbanlea, 65 EMU train sets (390 cars) and a new maintenance facility in Ormeau in Queensland. The new train sets will be manufactured, tested and delivered from Torbanlea Manufacturing Facility. The state of art train design for safety, communications, security, accessibility, amenity and comfort for the passengers and rail operational staff will meet all specifications and latest standards requirements.
A combined local and overseas design engineering team will be integrating the train subsystems design and delivering the manufacturing documentation for the trains to be manufactured at Torbanlea Manufacturing Facility in cooperation with Fraser Coast and Queensland rolling stock equipment local suppliers. The local design team will be working with the overseas design team and local and overseas suppliers to assure the train sets design submissions, compliance, manufacturability, reliability, maintainability and safety for the train’s operational life of minimum 35 years.
Key Responsibilities
- Management of Human Factors issues, workshops, stakeholder expectations and derived design requirements.
- Application of industry standards, good practice guidance and industrial ergonomic design.
- Develop design analysis documentation to assure the best design integration with human factor requirements.
- Prepare and issue design instructions for local and overseas projects to implement the best practices of Human Factors ergonomics and industrial design.
Essential Requirements
- Qualification/s in Human Factors and Ergonomics, Human Factors Engineering or Industrial Design
- Minimum 7 years of practical experience as a Human Factors Specialist or related discipline with Human Factors including industrial ergonomic design
- Experience writing reports for Human Factor stakeholder engagement workshops such as Train Crew Cab Design, Passenger Area in the Train (including passenger seats), and DSAPT (Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport)
- Knowledge and experience with disability laws and standards in Australia
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with people at all levels as well as international customer representatives
- Experience in rolling stock or transport industry
