About the Role
This role is to ensure quality customer service is provided to internal and external customers.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Liaise with agents during pack week to ensure maximum load, monitor DG bookings and at times decide on shipments to roll.
- Take ownership of and process whole vessels. This will be varied by origin and destination. Cargo types may include FCL, LCL and FAK cargoes.
- Communicate any changes and issues with overseas agents to Customer Service team.
- Co-ordinate documentation flows and requirements with offshore agents. Also ensure all shipments comply with AU import regulations.
- Liaise with local shipping lines regarding vessel arrivals, cargo priority/availability and charges.
- Liaise with importers, freight forwarders and customs brokers regarding arrival of cargo and meet their specific requirements.
- Co-ordinate with nominated Customs Brokers regarding cargoes requiring Customs Clearance and/or deliveries.
- Co-ordinate with other service providers ie Trucking Companies, Port Companies and Freight Stations regarding the timely and efficient handling of cargo.
- Complete quotes in a timely fashion where appropriate.
- Coordinate with manager on any agent issues or disputes.
- Handle all queries associated with any of the above functions.
- Ensure all communications with customers and service providers are helpful, courteous and of the highest standard.
- Manage own workload on a daily basis and keep Workbench up to date. Provide guidance to junior staff when necessary.
- Working toward continuous improvement and implementing systems enhancements.
- Ensure dealings and relationships with other staff members are friendly and promote harmony in the workplace.
- Ensure shipping line buy rates are valid.
Advantageous to the role but not essential:E-docing
- Ordering of invoice screen to match sells (autorated)
- Exchange Rates
- Appropriate acknowledgement of emails
- Assess and review FAK utilisation and profit per cbm
- Job closing and profit shares to be completed by the 15th of the following month to ensure accurate company results - checking costs against billings and job closing. Reporting any anomalies unexpected losses.
Key technical skills and knowledge:
- Sound knowledge of Incoterms and supply chain systems
- 5+ years relevant freight industry and product knowledge and can apply this experience appropriately
- Computer literate. EDI (Cargowise) experience
