Industrial Designer

ABBFAB is seeking an experienced and motivated team member for full time Industrial Designer permanent role.
ABBFAB is an industry leading engineering company that provides Profile Cutting and General & Heavy Metal Fabrication solutions to the Top End. Our diverse range of custom fabrication, repairs/ maintenance and general welding projects service clients in the Mining, Marine, Civil & Building industry. We pride ourselves for providing quick turn around quality workmanship and attention to detail with a solutions based approach. Industrial Designer - $100,000-$120,000K (Experience based)
+ Permanent Full Time (Entitlements & Super SG)
In this role you will get the opportunity to work on the entire product development process from sketches, CAD, through to tooling development and manufacturing. Take ownership of new product designs, seeing innovation and concepts through the complete journey to product completion. You will be hands on, multi-talented professional with strong experience using various Drafting & CNC packages in 2D & 3D and working closely with the director, tradesman & project support team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Consult with clients to determine requirements for designs
* Research the various ways a particular product might be used, and who will use it
* Sketch ideas or create renderings, which are images on paper or on a computer that provide a visual of design ideas
* Use computer software to develop virtual models of different designs
* Examine materials and manufacturing requirements to determine production costs
* Work with other specialists, such as mechanical engineers and manufacturers, to evaluate whether their design concepts will fill needs at a reasonable cost
* Evaluate product safety, appearance, and function to determine if a design is practical
* Provide suggestions for the future pipeline of products
* Explore, understand, weigh and discuss form and function objectively, in a collaborative environment
* Ensure all projects reach high standards of functional and cosmetic integrity
Skills & Experience:
* Bachelor of Industrial Design
* Min. 3-5 years of proven hands on industry experience
* Ability to problem solve, make decisions and resolve issues
* Good understanding of manufacturing requirements and constraints to do with the manufacturing of products.
* Broad knowledge of related industries & the industries we service
* A desire to work as a part of a team.
* Excellent time management skills and have the ability to multitask, plan ahead and meet deadlines.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Detail-oriented with a strong focus on efficiency, accuracy and quality.
* Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
* You don't mind getting your hands dirty and have a "no job is too small" attitude.
* Have a high level of ownership when it comes to standards and outcomes.
* Knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion, Inventor & ProNest essential (similar experience in alternate programs will be considered)
