Industrial Lawyer/Industrial Officer
The WA Police Union, of which 98% of Western Australia's police officers, police auxiliary officers and police cadets are members, is seeking the services of an experienced industrial lawyer or industrial officer, initially on a 12-month contract but with a possibility of ongoing employment.
As the Industrial Lawyer or Industrial Officer, you'll provide advice and representation to our members in relation to their terms and conditions of employment. You'll be exposed to all elements of the employment contract for our members, including interpretation and enforcement of industrial instruments, bargaining for industrial instruments and representation before state industrial tribunals and courts. The Industrial Lawyer will also provide general counsel services.
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
- advocacy skills
- strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills
- experience in drafting applications, witness statements and other legal documents
- experience in representation before industrial tribunals and courts
- strong verbal communication skills
- organisational skills and ability to manage a varied caseload
- commitment to our union's values and principles.
Based at modern premises in West Perth, the vacant position is available for an immediate start with a salary commensurate with the successful candidate's credentials.
