Job description

Location: Melbourne or Sydney

Our Exciting Opportunity:

5G private cellular networks are increasingly important to industrial enterprises embracing digital transformation and Industry 4.0. The desire to increase agility, advance operations or unlock intelligence for better decisions is driving the adoption of new digital technologies - whether connected workers, automation, robotics or IoT sensors for everything. These often push beyond the capabilities of existing network technologies, with 5G regarded as the critical enabler moving forward.

Ericsson is now looking for an Industry Business Development Manager to drive market engagements for private 5G network adoption within the manufacturing industry in Australia and New Zealand. The successful candidate will be experienced and knowledgeable of the manufacturing sector, will have a solid appreciation for the importance of technology and connectivity, and will be responsible for developing the awareness and opportunity for private 5G networks.

The role will form part of a small but impactful team within Ericsson's Enterprise domain. This is a recently created strategic function within Market Area Oceania, South East Asia and India that is accountable for accelerating the growth of Ericsson enterprise solutions.

The Industry Business Development Manager (Manufacturing) has three main responsibilities:

  • Engage with participants in the manufacturing sector and build demand for private 5G adoption, directing opportunities towards Ericsson partners for sales engagement, closure and fulfilment;
  • Develop ecosystems and collaborative partnerships with other solution providers operating in the industry that will benefit from 5G enablement; and,
  • Drive the industry development plan for Ericsson in manufacturing locally, including sub-sector and partnerships focus, capturing market feedback, and establishing an industry narrative in conjunction with Ericsson marketing teams.
In this role, you would:
  • Use your contacts and networks across the manufacturing sector to engage with suitable organisations undertaking industry 4.0 and digital transformation journeys.
  • Utilise your experience in the sector to identify use cases and opportunities that stimulate a need for private 5G networks.
  • Engage in high-level technology conversations with executives, decision-makers and other stakeholders within prospective organisations.
  • Drive education and awareness programs with manufacturing organisations to cement opportunities.
  • Drive demand creation and preferencing for Ericsson solutions based on their value proposition.
  • Be responsible for promoting the Ericsson 5G Dedicated Networks (DN) portfolio and our partners to manufacturers.
  • Work with Ericsson partner sales teams as an industry specialist - helping them to establish proficiency and understanding of issues and solution requirements.
  • Be an evangelist for private 5G adoption and for Ericsson at key industry events.
  • Bring customer and market feedback to help shape the evolution to the Ericsson Dedicated Networks portfolio.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of enterprise opportunities in the manufacturing sector for Ericsson partners to implement.
As our ideal candidate, you will have:
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience with communications and/or technology in the manufacturing sector or supply chain, either in a business development or sales role.
  • Experience with wireless communications is preferred. Wi-Fi and/or cellular would be advantageous.
  • Experience with industrial automation and information solutions would be advantageous.
  • Proven competence in developing a pipeline of new technology sales opportunities within the manufacturing sector.
  • A solid appreciation of the importance and challenges of connectivity in a manufacturing setting.
  • Good understanding of industry 4.0 principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal and customer relationship skills with the ability to influence decision-makers.
  • An ability to articulate a story, and present a company and product to anyone, in any setting.
