Job description

Our organisation is seeking a passionate and dedicated Mental Health Intensive Support Worker (IMHSW) to join our team.

We are seeking female support workers for Austral NSW, at the participant's individual need.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting clients with challenging behaviours, ensuring that they have a safe, comfortable and personalised environment to develop their skills, abilities and aspirations. This position is casual, and the candidate will report to the Team Leader-Client Services.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and carry out all office administration, including data collection, filing, booking and scheduling appointments, and general

Administration:

  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace and abide by workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Assess the needs of clients and craft appropriate care plans.
  • Complete daily shift notes and data logs as required by the organisation.
  • Emotionally support clients by engaging in conversations and actively listening to their concerns.
  • Help with the client’s domestic tasks, including cooking, cleaning, budgeting, shopping and personal care.
  • Accompany clients to meetings with other healthcare facilities or agencies.
  • Work with the families of clients to educate them about proper support for the client.
  • Collaborate with other support workers to exchange advice and best practices.
  • Continuously advance in the profession by attending various seminars, conferences, and other educational opportunities.
  • Plan, develop and implement the Individual Lifestyle Planning Process in line with NDIS plans and requirements where relevant.
  • Coordinate Quarterly Client Review Meetings.
  • Ensure programs and activities meet agreed client ILP goals and are based on a Person-Centred approach.
  • Ensure all client interactions and support needs adhere to Disability Service Standards, Disability Services Act, Policies and Procedures and Q&S guidelines.
  • Petty Cash to reconcile at 100% accuracy at all times.
  • Accurate and timely fortnightly timesheet submission.
  • Promote positive family relationships and community networks to ensure optimum participation.
  • Ensure professional and customer-focused attitude in all dealings with families and community.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy workplace by implementing and adhering to all Pursues WHS policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certificate IV in Mental Health, Disability, Aged Care or a related field.
  • Experience working in mental health or disability support services.
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing Individual Lifestyle Planning.
  • Experience working with clients with challenging behaviours.
  • Experience in documenting and recording client progress.
  • Knowledge and understanding of NDIS.
  • Knowledge and experience with the Disability Services Act, policies and procedures and Quality and Safeguards Commission.
  • First Aid certification is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to work day, evening, and weekend shifts.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
