Provide strategic leadership and advocacy for 12 Councils in Far North Queensland
Manage critical regional projects that support sustainable economic growth
12-month contract based in Cairns
The Far North Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils (FNQROC) is a not-for-profit organisation that represents the interests of 12 councils in Far North Queensland including Cairns, Cassowary Coast, Cook, Croydon, Douglas, Etheridge, Hinchinbrook, Hope Vale, Mareeba, Tablelands, Wujal Wujal and Yarrabah.
The FNQROC promotes sustainable, economic, social and environmental development in Far North Queensland by facilitating collaboration and coordination between local councils, state and federal government agencies and other key stakeholders.
FNQROC is seeking an interim Chief Executive Officer for a period of twelve months. Reporting to the Board of FNQROC, the Interim CEO will play a pivotal role in delivering the organisation's strategy and services, maintain key stakeholder relationships, lead a small team of technical experts, and manage a wide range of policy and research projects.
This position will suit a visible and connected leader, who has experience working at an executive level in local government in Queensland, who will engage with key stakeholder groups and advocate for the regional priorities of Far North Queensland.
Qualifications, skills, and attributes:
Demonstrated experience in a similar leadership and advocacy role with detailed knowledge of the different levels of government.
Experience in corporate strategic planning and the development of policies and procedures.
Advanced stakeholder engagement skills including the provision of high quality and consistent advice on complex matters to key stakeholder groups, and the ability to influence and conduct negotiations at a senior level.
Experience managing and delivering a range of complex projects and submissions, on time and to a high standard. A knowledge of infrastructure or town planning disciplines will be highly regarded.
Demonstrated leadership and management skills that inspire innovation and teamwork.
